A number of young girls were drawing water at the village well and telling each other their fantasies of when and whom and how they would marry.
One of them said, "My uncle will come loaded with wedding presents and dress me in brocade, and I'll get married in a palace."

Another said, "My uncle is coming soon with a camel-load of sweets."

The third said, "Oh, my uncle will be here in no time in a golden carriage filled with jewels."

Bopoluchi was the prettiest of them all and she looked sad---she was an orphan and had no one in the world to arrange a marriage for her or give her a dowry. Still, not to be outdone by the others, she said, "And my uncle will bring me dresses, sweets, and jewels in golden plates."

A robber, disguised as a peddler selling perfumes to country women, happened to be sitting near the well. He heard what Bopoluchi said. He was so struck by her beauty and spirit that he decided to marry her himself. So the very next day, he disguised himself as a rich farmer and came to Bopoluchi's hut with trays full of silken dresses, sweets, and rare jewels---things he had looted and put away.

Bopoluchi could hardly believe her eyes, for it was just as she had fantasized.

The robber even said he was her uncle, her father's long-lost brother, and had come home to arrange his niece's wedding with one of his sons.

Bopoluchi couldn't believe her ears, but she believed him and was ecstatic. She packed up her few belongings and set off with the robber.

But as they went along the road, a crow in a tree croaked:

"Bopoluchi, beware! Smell the danger in the air! It's no uncle that relieves you But a robber who deceives you!"
"Uncle," said Bopoluchi, "that crow croaks in a funny way. What does it say?" "Nothing," said the robber. "All the crows in this country croak like that."

A little farther on, they met a peathingy which, as soon as it caught sight of the pretty girl, began to scream:

"Bopoluchi, beware! Smell the danger in the air! It's no uncle that relieves you But a robber who deceives you!"
"Uncle," said the girl, "that peathingy screams in a funny way. What does it say?"
"Oh, nothing," said the robber. "All the peathingys scream like that in this country." Then a jackal slunk across the road and began to howl:

"Bopoluchi, beware! Smell the danger in the air! It's no uncle that relieves you But a robber who deceives you!"
"Uncle," said Bopoluchi, "that jackal howls in such a funny way. What does it say?"
"Oh, nothing," said the robber. "All the jackals howl like that in this country."

So Bopoluchi traveled with him many miles till they reached the robber's house. Once they were inside, he locked the door and told her who he was and how he wanted to marry her himself. She wept and wailed, but the pitiless robber left her with his ancient crone of a mother and went out to make arrangements for the marriage feast.

Now Bopoluchi had long, beautiful hair that reached down to her ankles, but the mother of the robber was so old she didn't have a hair on her head.

"Daughter," said the old hag, as she was getting the bridal clothes ready, "how did you manage to get such beautiful hair?"

"Well," replied Bopoluchi, "my mother had a way of making it grow by pounding my head in the big mortar for husking rice. At every stroke of the pestle, my hair grew longer and longer. It's a method that never fails."

"Maybe it will work for me, too, and make my hair grow," said the old woman, who had always wanted long hair and never had very much. "Maybe it will. Why don't we try it?" said Bopoluchi.

So the old mother put her head in the mortar, and Bopoluchi pounded away with such force that the old woman died.

Then Bopoluchi dressed the dead body in the scarlet bridal dress, seated it on the bridal chair, drew the veil over its face, and put the spinning-wheel in front of it, so that when the robber came home he might think it was his bride. Then she put on the old woman's clothes, picked up her few belongings, and stepped out of the house as quickly as possible.

On her way home, the robber saw her hurrying by. He had stolen a millstone to grind the grain for the feast. She was scared he would recognize her, but he didn't. He thought she was some old woman hobbling along. So Bopoluchi reached home safely.

When the robber came home and saw the figure in the bridal dress sitting in the bridal chair spinning, he thought it was Bopoluchi. He called her to help him with the millstone, but she didn't answer. He called again, but she still didn't answer. After calling a few more times, he flew into a rage and threw the millstone at her head. The figure toppled over, and when he came close, it wasn't Bopoluchi at all but his own old mother with her head bashed in. The robber wept and cried aloud and beat his breast because he thought he had killed his own mother. Soon it became clear to him that Bopoluchi was no longer around and had run away. He was wild with rage and ran out to bring her back, wherever she was.

When she reached home, Bopoluchi knew that the robber would certainly come after her. Every night she begged her neighbors to let her sleep in a different house, leaving her own little bed in her own little house empty. But she couldn't do this forever, as she soon came to the end of friends who would let her sleep in their houses. So she decided to brave it out and sleep in her own bed, with a sharp billhook next to her. Sure enough, in the middle of the night four men crept in, and each seizing a leg of the bed, lifted it up and walked off. The robber himself held the leg close behind her head. Bopoluchi was wide awake, but she pretended to be fast asleep until they came to a deserted spot and the thieves were off their guard. Then she whipped out the billhook and in a flash cut off the heads of the two thieves at the foot of the bed. Turning around quickly, she cut off the head of the third thief, but the robber himself ran away in a fright and scrambled up a nearby tree like a wild cat before she could get at him.

Bopoluchi cried out to him, brandishing her billhook, "Come down, if you are a man, and fight it out!"

But the robber would not come down. So Bopoluchi gathered all the sticks she could find, piled them around the tree, and set fire to them. The tree caught fire, and the robber, stifled by the smoke, tried to jump down and broke his neck.

After that, Bopoluchi went to the robber's house and carried off all the gold and silver, jewels, and clothes that were hidden there. She had them brought home to her village in silver and gold platters, on camels and donkeys. She was now so rich she could marry anyone she pleased.

there were two high mountains between Jizhou in the south and Heyang in the north. One was called Taihang Mountain and the other Wangwu Mountain.wow power leveling, Both of the mountains were very high.

Just to the north of the mountains lived an old man called Yu Gong who was nearly 90 years old. With the two high mountains just in front of his house, his family and he had to walk a long way around the mountains whenever they had something to do on the other side of the mountains.

One day, Yu Gong called all his family together to talk about how to move the two mountains to other places. His wife said, "An old man like you cannot even move a small hill, not to mention the two high mountains.wow power leveling, Even if you can, where can you throw so much earth and stone?"

"the Bohai Sea is big enough to contain all the earth and stone," Yu Gong said.
So it was decided. His children started to dig the mountains, led by the old man Yu Gong.

A man named Zhi Sou saw them working and tried to stop them, saying, "You are so silly! You're so old and weak that you can't even take away the grass and trees. wow gold,How can you move the high mountains?"

"You're wrong," Yu Gong said with a sigh. "Look, my sons can continue my work after my death. When my sons die, my grandchildren will continue. So generations after generations, there's no end.wow gold, But the mountains can't grow higher. Do you still say I can¡¯t move them away?"

Later the Heaven God, upon learning of Yu Gong¡¯s story, was GREatly moved.wow power leveling, He then ordered another god to come down and take the two high mountains away.

the story tells us that so long as one is determined and sticks to it long enough, anything can be done, wow gold,no matter how difficult it is.

When we¡¯re young and we dream of love and fulfillment, we think perhaps of moon-drenched Parisian nights or walks along the beach at sunset.

No one tells us that the greatest moments of a lifetime are fleeting, wow power leveling unplanned and nearly always catch us off guard.

Not long ago, wow power leveling as I was reading a bedtime story to my seven-year-old daughter, Annie, I became aware of her focused gaze. She was starring at me with a faraway, trancelike expression. Apparently, completing The Tale of Samuel Whiskers was not as important as we first thought.

I asked what she was thinking about.

¡°Mommy,¡± she whispered, wow gold ¡°I just can¡¯t stop looking at your pretty face.¡±

I almost dissolved on the spot.

Little did she know how many trying moments the glow of her sincerely loving statement would carry me through over the following years.

Not long after, wow power leveling I took my four-year-old son to an elegant department store, where the melodic notes of a classic love song drew us toward a tuxedoed musician playing a grand piano. Sam and I sat down on a marble bench nearby, and he seemed as transfixed by the lilting theme as I was.

I didn¡¯t realize that Sam had stood up next to me until he turned, wow gold took my face in his little hands and said, ¡°Dance with me.¡±

If only those women strolling under the Paris moon knew the joy of such an invitation made by a round-cheeked boy with baby teeth.[url=http://www.wotlkgold.net]wow gold[/url Although shoppers openly chuckled, grinned and pointed at us as we glided and whirled around the open atrium, I would not have traded a dance with such a charming young gentleman if I¡¯d been offered the universe.

Hi all, I had a long chat with Pete Lakin (from DC) last night and sadly the guys won't be playing the "Xmas Bash" however, they will be popping in as guests - so those of you that would like to see them/meet up with them, don't be too dissapointed as they'll still be having a few drinks with the rest of us.

But I would like to take this opportunity of wishing DOUBLE CROSS all the very best for the future - and I have no doubt that they will be back, bigger & better than ever!

News update regards line up/bill will be posted shortly.

FIREFEST UPDATE

Following the unfortunate withdrawal of Saracen we are delighted to announce that Birmingham’s finest SHY will now be appearing at the Firefest 2 show at Nottingham Rock City on Saturday November 26th. Shy are best remembered for their classic albums 'Brave the Storm', 'Excess all Areas' and 'Misspent Youth' all of which generated massive plaudits from fans and critics alike upon release. After a long period of inactivity by the band, SHY returned to the studio and released the excellent comeback album 'Unfinished Business' in 2002 followed by the equally magnificent 'Sunset and Vine' earlier this year. With Tony Mills and Steve Harris firing on all cylinders, SHY will no doubt be one of the attractions of the day. Firefest are delighted to have SHY on board and we are sure that they will prove to be a massive addition for all those attending.Shy's bassist Roy Daivs had the following to say" We are truly delighted to be part of Firefest 2. I was at the first FIREFEST show in Bradford and was extremely impressed with the top class line up on the day. The only problem was I really wanted to be up there playing. Anyway we are now going to be part of FIREFEST 2 and Steve,Tony and I as well as the rest of the gang are really looking forward to it".

A full list of running times will be posted next week and please also make a note of the FIREFEST web site www.fire-fest.co.uk which should also be live in the early part of next week.

The second Firefest Festival takes place at Nottingham Rock City on Saturday November 26th. The line-up comprises of both old and new faces alike.
Some will be familiar to fans of melodic hard rock while others may be new to many fans out there - but all in all it is a line up that proudly represents a healthy blend of old and new.
The festival also moves 'home' with Firefest 2 moving to a more central location in Nottingham Rock City one of the premier rock venues in England.
Nottingham Rock City is a 1900 capacity venue that has played host to Whitesnake, Motorhead, Y&T, Skid Row and many more besides. In fact, if you care to trawl through the annals of rock, it's evident that more melodic and hard rock bands have played this venue more than any other venue in England.
The move should make Firefest 2 more accessible to the vast amount of people traveling and bearing that fact in mind it's also possibly one of the best venues to attend a live show. Full ticketing details will be available early next week, but as always tickets can be purchased directly from the promoters via paypal using the fireworks.mag@ntlworld.com e-mail address.

Line-Up Details:
Saracen - Led by guitarist Ron Bendelow...one of the great 'almost made it bands' of the NWOBHM bands reunited in 2002 to release the Red Sky album in 2003. Gaining critical and commercial acclaim with Red Sky, Saracen proved to be the surprise package of Bloodstock 2003 laying waste to the stage and gaining a whole new generation of fans on the back of classic hard rocking tracks such as Heroes Saints and Fools and Follow the Piper. With a new album Vox In Excelso currently being recorded, Saracen are out to impress those who have not yet had the opportunity to catch them live.

Power Quest - a melodic power metal band with it's axis firmly in England, Power Quest are riding high as England's answer to Rhapsody and proudly claim, and rightly so, to be the best the genre have to offer. With the sophomore album Neverworld generating plaudits from every section of the music press, Power Quest have sought to take one step further with their forthcoming release Magic Never Dies - another pure melodic power metal gem in the making. Be sure to check out some home grown talent and ask yourself just why you have never heard of these guys, then, and only then you realise there is absolutely no justice in the world. Catch them now, before you have to stand half way back in a 50,000 person audience in a few months time.

Balance Of Power - Arising from the ashes of three aor bands Balance of Power first came to attention in 1997 with the release of When The World Falls Down, hailed by the music press of the day as a modern day AOR masterpiece. In the intervening years Balance of Power have toughened up their sound no end and moved more firmly into the progressive metal territory dominated by Dream Theater. They have drawn slavering reviews from none other than former Kerrang maestro Geoff Barton, lavishing praise such as "prog meets metal…and for once they're British! Makes you proud to fly the flag". Given that Balance of Power have a rich and powerful history, it's with great pleasure that Tony Ritchie and co will dig into their illustrious back catalog to offer us songs from not only the debut album (still regarded as a classic aor release by many) but something from almost every album they have recorded in their illustrious ten year career. This is Balance of Power's only British date this year. Don't miss it.

Blue Tears - The self titled Blue Tears album on MCA records from 1990 remains a classic to those who still yearn for the heady days of stadium hard rock. Led by Gregg Fulkerson, Blue Tears have gained legendary status on the back of stadium shaking anthems such as Rockin on the Radio, Innocent Kiss and Thunder in the Night. Following a period of inactivity, Gregg has once again assembled Blue Tears for a new album of unreleased music titled Mad Bad and Dangerous. Gregg has agreed to bring Blue Tears across the Atlantic for their first and only European show in their history. Gregg and the band are delighted to finally make the trip to England and this will be the ONLY opportunity to see the guys who promise to rock as hard, if not harder than anybody else on the bill. The fifteen year wait is about to end when Blue Tears finally take to an English stage on November 26th.

Danger Danger - Following a hugely successful UK tour in April of 2005, they have got the taste for it. No festival (or Saturday night) would be complete without the ultimate party rock band from New York. Bruno, Steve, Ted and Rob are not only four of the coolest guys to walk the planet, but as anybody who saw them in April will attest to they are one of the finest live bands you could ever hope to see. With Ted Poley back in the band Danger Danger have not only reclaimed their crown, but raised the bar several notches making it a difficult job for any band that shares the stage with them. Promising a revamped setlist from April, D2 are once again looking forward to rocking in England. Armed with bona fide classics such as Bang Bang, Naughty Naughty, I Still Think About You, Monkey Business and Shot of Love they are truly the masters of feel good rock and roll. This is once again the D2 boys only UK gig and they simply cannot be missed!

Harem Scarem - They're coming, they're not…so the debate has raged over the past few weeks. The fact is they weren't, well until Harry and the guys were finally persuaded to play for their large army of UK fans. Harem Scarem have a been a staple of the melodic rock world over the last fifteen years and have never once failed to deliver top notch melodic hard rock. Weather it's the slick self titled release, the totally classic Mood Swings or the latter day masterpieces such as Higher or Weight of the World that whets your appetite, Harem Scarem have never failed to deliver. Harem Scarem would like to take this opportunity to thank their fans for making this happen and we at Firefest would also like to thank Harry and the boys for showing their commitment to us by agreeing to make a long trip to play . This will surely be one of the most eagerly anticipated sets of the day and with a bit of luck we'll definitely get to hear Saviours Never Cry this time…ok, you will…but try pick a set list for them…..it's a difficult job with a wealth of tracks to choose from, either way they will be one of the top attractions of the day.

House Of Lords - Finally!! For the first time since 1988, House of Lords will set foot on a British stage. Following a long period of inactivity House of Lords have agreed to a one-off European performance of their classic material. Drawing on their three classic albums House of Lords, Sahara and Demons Down, the band are fired up and rearing to go. This will be the first time since 1993 that the band have played live and they are currently working on a set list that will not only please, but blow away their long standing fans. House of Lords were one band that emerged from the whole 'hair band' era with not only their credibility, but an entire army of fans keen to hear cleverly crafted and masterfully delivered songs that simply demanded your attention. If tracks such as Edge Of Your Life, Love Don't Lie, Can't Find My Way Home, Remember My Name, O Father, What's Forever For and Metallic Blue conjure up memories of one of the finest melodic rock outfits to grace the stage, the only place to be is Nottingham Rock City on Saturday November 26th to witness the ultimate live re-union. They may even have a surprise or two in store as well…but telling wouldn't make it a surprise would it??

Full ticketing details will be available next week, but for the moment if you have any questions or enquiries then please e-mail firefest@hotmail.com, k_dargan@hotmail.com or fireworks.mag@ntlworld.com and we'll do our best to answer. Tickets will be available from a number of venues throughout the UK, but we would ask that you purchase directly from the promoters wherever possible.
It's also hoped to add a Friday night pre show similar to Firefest 1. More details on this early next week, but again, please remember it will be a limited amount of tickets available for this show.
Once again, on behalf of Firefest 2, thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing everybody in Nottingham in November.

FIREFEST PRE-SHOW PARTY:
Details of the Firefest 2 Pre-Show party have been announced, with Blue Tears, Nexx and Double Cross set to appear. The details are as follows:
Pre-Show Party - Friday November 25; Venue Via Fossa. Address - 44 Canal Street, Nottingham, NG1 7EH. Doors 7pm / First band 7.30pm / Venue Close 1.00 am
Via Fossa is one of the most popular bars in Nottingham offering a fantastic location in the heart of Nottingham, just a short five minute walk from Rock City. The location for Firefest 2 pre show party, the show will take place in the spacious upstairs venue, totally segregated from the hustle and bustle of the busy bar below. The line up for the Pre Show party is as follows:
Double Cross - Hailing from Leicester, Double Cross have been treading the boards for quite a while following the release of their debut album in 2002. A powerful four piece, the band have opened for Dokken and Danger Danger and have just completed an arena tour of the UK opening for Styx. Double Cross play a powerful brand of traditional melodic hard rock with classy AOR overtones and are surely destined for bigger things in 2006.
Nexx - Nexx are no strangers to the UK having played at two previous Gods festivals . Their brand of fiery Latin melodic hard rock earned them rave reviews for their debut album Colours upon release. The five piece fronted by the diminutive Patricia are one of the hottest attractions in their homeland and have been personally championed by Harry Hess (Harem Scarem) and Danny Vaughn (Tyketto). Vocalist Patricia has guested with both previously -so impressed was Harry Hess with Nexx's cover of Sentimental Boulevard he asked Patricia to join Scarem on stage and sing lead. Nexx will be playing a mixture of material from Colours as well as some new material and a selection of cover versions from their extremely highly rated covers catalogue.
Blue Tears Well, what can we say? Most bands have to be persuaded to cross the Atlantic to play, but in this case Gregg Fulkerson and the boys are so pumped up about playing in England that they simply decided they were going to be on the Friday night bill as well and nothing was going to change their minds. So just to make it a little more interesting, Blue Tears will play a set of material from their healthy back catalogue that due to set length restriction they will not be able to play during their Saturday main day appearance. Gregg has promised to dig out tracks from the classic self titled debut album, Mad, Bad and Dangerous as well as even including something from the Michael Sweet album he co-wrote, produced and played on from 1994. With the band currently in rehearsals in Nashville working on the set list, any suggestion you may have for inclusion will not be ignored. E-mail Gregg at blue0411@comcast.net with your set list suggestions for both shows. They are interested in putting on the best show possible, so e-mail now and make sure you get your favourite Blue Tears track(s) on the list.

There will most likely be one more band added to the bill in the coming weeks, but we're sure you will agree that it is a great way to start any weekend. Once again tickets are limited to 250 ONLY and are on a first come first served basis.
Tickets for Friday November 25 ARE NOT available from Rock City or any of the other various outlets, they can ONLY be purchased directly from the Fireworks office using paypal: Paypal address - fireworks.mag@ntlworld.com at a cost of Sterling £5 each OR By sending a cheque, bank draft or cash (at senders own risk) by post to Fireworks Magazine, 10 Dunnock Close, Offerton, Stockport, SK2 5XD, England.

Double Cross - Hailing from Leicester, Double Cross have been treading the boards for quite a while following the release of their debut album in 2003. A powerful five piece, the band have opened for Dokken and Danger Danger and have just completed an arena tour of the UK opening for Styx.
